Exciting news for designers! We’ve just launched version 1.0 of Highcharts Core Figma Plugin available for free on Figma Community. Read on to discover the powerful new features we’ve added. You can also check out our v1.0 tutorial for a quick walkthrough of what’s new.
Apply Custom Themes With Local Variables
Customizing the look and feel of your charts is simple. Our default theme (called “Vikafjell”) is fully customizable through Figma’s local variables panel.
This feature is especially helpful when working with predefined color libraries and switching between light and dark modes. Just configure your color variables, and your chart colors will automatically update across the board.
Or create an entirely new theme by duplicating the existing one and renaming it. Your new theme will take effect once you reload the plugin.
For more detailed help, check out our tutorial on using local variables with the plugin.
Note: Figma’s free tier only allows for one theme mode (light or dark), while higher tiers provide multiple theme options.
Import Custom Data
Visualize real-world data using the plugin’s new custom data import feature.
Simply go to the “Data” tab in the plugin, select “New,” and give your dataset a name. Then paste your comma separated values into the Data text box and click “Save Data.”
Your data is now available in the “Sources” drop down list. You can edit or delete the dataset as needed.
When you’re ready to create a chart, select a frame, choose your chart type and select your dataset from the source list. Your visualized data will appear in the chart preview.
More Great Features
- Includes all essential chart types: Choose from a variety of chart types including line, area, pie, donut, column, bar and gauge, and insert them into your designs with one click. Then easily fine-tune colors and fonts to match your project’s aesthetic.
- Easy Adjustments: Already made a chart? No problem! Just click on your chart’s parent frame and launch the plugin to change the chart type, add or remove series, generate new random data, modify axes types and extremes or flip from dark to light mode with a click.
- Intuitive Interface: Our plugin’s interface uses standard design tool conventions and includes a built-in preview to show you exactly what you’re updating prior to finalizing your changes.
- Streamlined Collaboration: Design pixel-perfect charts that save developers time and effort and ensure that your visualizations are beautiful and functional in your final product.
