Performance seems to be lacking when there are more than 10 charts. More than 10 datapools. And more than two datamodifiers per datapool. In total +- 5MB data.
Is highcharts dashboards a fitting solution for this, or is highcharts dashboard more focused on only a few charts with very little data?

It all depends on what features you use. Some use more resources than others. If you provide an exact example of your usage (e.g. a demo in JSFiddle) I will see what we can do to optimize it.
