First this thing sure jazzed up a website for a guy who a year ago didn't know what Dreamweaver was.
I had this idea in the back of my head for a few months and didn't know how I was going to do it, so I figured why don't I use that highslide thingy I already paid for, threw down some layers on top of a picture, and voila! Tractor parts for Dummies...

also worked for throwing a google map in an iframe

This thread is about our own twists of Highslide. Sorry ... my use of Highslide is pretty much out of the box. I would like to tweak it ... but I'm a photographer not a coder or web designer ... so even using Highslide out of the box made me sweat (something I can't fix is wrong with the "frame"!).
Terms like "Easing Equations" sound frighteing to me

So far I made 5 small galleries using Highslide

Oatman Outlaws and Heroes
http://www.ct-graphics.com/oatman-stars.html

Joshua Tree National Park - much more than "just" Joshua Trees
http://www.ct-graphics.com/joshuatree.html

Black & White - that classic feel
http://www.ct-graphics.com/blackandwhite.html

The Eastern Sierra Nevada - Unparalleed Scenery
http://www.ct-graphics.com/sierranevada.html

Flowers Beautiful Beasts
http://www.ct-graphics.com/flowers.html

I'm now working on a new site with galleries only and will difinitely use Highslide even if I have to stick to "out of the box" :D

My twists...

Hi all,

EDIT 2010-02-16
Recently I stopped using Highslide on my websites. I still think it's a great and very flexible script when you're not comfortable with js etc. But in my situation, jQuery and a bit of custom scripting is more effective.
Keep up the good works!
Ed

I use HS pretty much out of the box for my photography website but I did modify the navigation elements of the expanded images and put them above the image.

You can have a look here: http://www.eddejong.nl

It's in Dutch, but if you click "portfolio", click an image to select a gallery and click a thumbnail you'll end up with an expanded image.

I have a love/hate relationship with CSS, but it's all done in CSS. The basic trick is to set a top margin for ".highslide-image" and register an overlay with top left positioning.

Thanks everyone for sharing their designs and thanks to Torstein for a great script and the new documentation.

I've tested my site on IE7, FF2 and Safari [edit 20080323] on Win XPP/SP2. If anybody out there uses Mac / Safari: I'd appreciate your feedback. Done, thanks Torstein! [edit 20080323]

Ed, your portfolio looks as great in Safari/Mac as in FF/IE.

Hi Torstein,

Thanks for testing and letting me know. I installed Safari for Windows a couple of days ago and all my 'highslide' sites ran without a glitch.

Enjoy the rest of yeat Easter weekend, hope the weather at your place is better than here in Rotterdam.

All the best,
Ed

I used Highslide on a new stock photography website to create a lightbox layer on the search results page. You can enlarge multiple thumbnails to compare them side by side and rather than have the background dim automatically I set the Enter key to simply toggle it on and off. I also changed the Esc key so that it will close all of the images at the same time and undim the background if necessary. Highslide was very easy to customize and works great. Thanks Torstein!

Cheers,
John

Hi all :)
I've used Highslide on my web design portfolio at http://francescogavello.it to enhance the navigation between the different images of my projects.

This is -really- a great piece of code.
Great work Torstein! :D

My congratulations

Hi Torstein,

From Italy and Mexico my personal website was made with the aim of your codes.

It is just a personal webisite made in php-nuke where I share often my photography works...

I really apreciate your geniality because I never seen something like that on the web, easy, peacy and very useful tool.

Just finished my portfolio website which uses Highslide a fair bit ;)

http://www.orangecactus.co.uk

I modded it slightly by implementing it in my own sliding gallery and created a custom outline to fit the site style.

:)

Absolutely love highslide and will be using it more regularly in the near future.

Re: My congratulations

Hi Everybody,

I do like to use the highslide script in my website, it┬┤s simply incredible, but I have found an aplication that uses actually Highslide as an Script with imageflow 9.0 together achieving a very very fancy gallery, easy to set up and doesn┬┤t uses flash at all. The perfection even more perfect...

The results from my personal website can be watched in these sites

http://www.edwardmoreno.com/ORIGAMIen.html

http://www.edwardmoreno.com/momentojusto.html

Maybe for some of you it is a common effect from first grade, but at least for me it looks fantastic. :D

You can download from internet for free typing imageflow and highslide in the adress bar.

Greetings

Here is my page (which is my first page created in general) using highslide as a popup for search results.

Great thanks to Torstein for helping me quickly.

Tried something new...

So I decided to try something new and ended up with a Highslide dock menu.
I teamed up Interface's Fisheye component with Highslide to make it and is dynamic with php for my latest equipment. It's not quite as sparkly as the Imageflow deal but it is easily edited with css. So someone who is a bit more css savy than me could easily make something pretty slick looking with it.

So here it is http://www.westlocktractor.com/used/agricultural.php

Thanks again Thorstein for this!
