The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is Canada’s federal funding agency for health research. The agency regularly uses data visualization to inform citizens about its research activities.

The chart used in this example by CIHR displays the total funding received by each province using a map and pie charts; the combination of a map and pie charts is a very effective way of correlating data, as the map helps users (e.g. citizens) to locate the provinces, and the pie charts indicate the amount of the funding for each province.
